FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your essential interior design questions answered.

Hiring an interior designer does not need to be a mystery and transparency is one of our core values which is demonstrated throughout our design process. Working with an interior designer can be (and should be!) stress free, and enjoyable. Along with creating beautiful spaces, they can assist with defining project scopes, developing timelines, creating budgets and providing tradespeople recommendations to help ensure that no detail is overlooked. Their expertise can be used in new builds and renovations, working in tandem with contractors and architects, as well as curation of floor plans and furnishings. If you are unsure if you need an interior designer, don’t hesitate to reach out – we would love to hear from you!

The first course of action is for you to fill out our contact form. This gives us enough information to understand your project and how we will best be able to assist you. From here we like to set up an initial virtual meeting or phone call. We want to get to know you, and you us- to ensure we are the right fit. Following this, we do an in home consultation to discuss all design aspects including timeline, budget, and desired scope. This allows us to create a personalized design proposal and contract. In these documents you will find the complete scope of work, and estimated timeline and budget. With every project, we collect a retainer which is then applied to any accrued design hours – the retainer amount is determined by the project scope. Once the proposal is approved, contract is signed, and retainer is collected we are ready to kickoff.

Every project scope is different which means every cost will be different. The first phase of our design process is executed in a way that we are able to gather all of the information on your project to then present you with a design proposal. This proposal will outline the full scope of the project, timeline, and the total estimated project cost for the interior design work. This way everyone is united on these expectations once the project begins.

The complete scope of work will determine the project timeline. In our experience, furniture procurement and renovations are completed in 6-12+ months and new construction projects are a year minimum. All construction projects are dependent on the selected contractor and/or architects schedule and timeline.

Absolutely, we encourage them! Collaboration is one of our favorite parts of the design process. As designers, we work closely with you each step of the way to create a curated design that feels personalized to both your individual aesthetic and your functional needs. Our goal in every project is to design a space that genuinely reflects our clients perspectives and lifestyle infused with Park Nine’s characteristic style.

Every design project is unique so we charge hourly based on the amount of time spent working. This is typically $150/hour but can vary depending on the project and scope. Following the end of phase one, you will be presented with a design proposal. This proposal will outline overall budget, scope of work, timeline and projected design hours, so you will understand all associated details and costs. We are committed to full transparency with our clients so hours are billed monthly with a detailed description of what is being worked on.

We are always looking for ways to give back to our community. If you are working with an organization in need of design services or a consultation don’t hesitate to reach out – we would love to hear from you!

Absolutely not! We work with clients across the US. If you have an international project we would love to hear from you and see how we could work together.

For a typical interior design project hiring an architect is not necessary. There are a few exceptions when one is needed which include, moving an exterior wall, manipulating a roofline, or adding square footage to an existing home. Otherwise our services include design and development of full construction plans for permitting. If there are alterations to a load bearing wall on the interior of a home, we or the contractor will enlist a structural engineer to advise on any structural requirements needed for project permitting.

Working in tandem with a contractor is an important part of any interior design project to ensure every detail is expertly executed. We can handle all communication with them to take the stress off of you and streamline the process. We love collaborating with our trusted contractors that understand our commitment to quality and clear communication. We can help select the perfect partnership that aligns with your personality and all of your project goals. If you have a preferred contractor or already selected one, we are happy to work along side them as well.

We purchase and procure all furnishings and decor that is needed for your project. This takes the stress off of you, allowing us to track, store and work through any issues or delays that might arise during this process. We have many trusted vendors who we receive updates from allowing us to manage timeline expectations and our reliable warehouse will inspect and hold items until we are ready for the most exciting day – install day!
