LUXURY INTERIOR DESIGN:
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Your essential luxury interior design questions answered.

What are the most common questions we get?

Working with an interior designer should be transparent, stress free, and enjoyable. Along with creating beautiful spaces, they can assist you with defining project scopes, developing timelines, creating budgets, and recommending tradespeople to ensure that no detail is overlooked. They can provide these solutions on new builds and renovations, collaborate with contractors and architects, and curate floor plans and furnishings. If you’re unsure whether you should hire a luxury interior design company, don’t hesitate to reach out – we would love to hear from you!

  1. Complete our contact form. This gives us enough information to understand your project and how we can assist you best.
  2. We’ll schedule an initial virtual meeting or phone call. We want to get to know you, and for you to get to know us. This ensures that we’re the right fit for each other.
  3. We’ll do an in-home consultation to discuss all design aspects including timeline, budget, and desired scope. This enables us to create a personalized design proposal and contract. These documents will contain the complete scope of work, and estimated timeline and budget.
  4. With every project, we collect a retainer that’s applied to any accrued design hours. The amount of the retainer is determined by the scope of your project.
  5. Once the proposal is approved, the contract is signed, and the retainer is collected, we’re ready to kickoff.

The scope of every project is different, which means the cost of every project will be different. During the first phase of our design process, we gather all of the information on your project to draft a design proposal. This proposal will outline the full scope of your project, including the timeline and total estimated cost for any luxury interior design work. This way, everyone is united on these expectations before the project even begins.

The complete scope of work will determine the project timeline. In our experience, furniture procurement and renovations are completed in 6-12+ months, and new construction projects take at least a year to complete. Please note that all construction projects are dependent on the scheduling and timeline for your selected contractor and/or architects.

Absolutely, we encourage them! Collaboration is one of our favorite parts of the design process. As designers, we work closely with you each step of the way to create a curated design that feels personalized to both your individual aesthetic and your functional needs. Our goal for every project is to design a space that genuinely reflects a perspective and lifestyle that’s infused with Park Nine’s characteristic style.

Every design project is unique, so we charge hourly based on the amount of time we spend working. This is typically $150/hour, but can vary depending on the project and scope. Following the end of phase one, you’ll be presented with a design proposal. This proposal will outline the overall budget, scope of work, timeline, and projected design hours. This ensures that you have a clear understanding of all associated details and costs. We’re committed to complete transparency, so we bill our monthly hours with a detailed description of the work we’re doing.

No, absolutely not! We’re located in Austin, TX, but we enjoy working with clients across the US. In fact, if you have an international project, we would love to hear from you to see how we could serve you.

No, it isn’t necessary to hire an architect for a typical interior design project. However, there are a few situations in which one is needed, including:

  • Moving an exterior wall.
  • Manipulating  a roofline.
  • Adding square footage to an existing home.

Otherwise, our services include design and development of full construction plans for permitting. If the interior of your home has a load-bearing wall that needs alterations, we (or the contractor) will enlist a structural engineer to advise on any structural requirements needed for project permitting.

Yes, and yes! Working in tandem with a contractor is an important part of ensuring that every detail is expertly executed during a custom interior design project. Our interior design company can handle all communication with yours to take the stress off of you and streamline the process.

In fact, we love collaborating with the trusted contractors that understand our commitment to quality and clear communication. We can help you select the perfect partnership that aligns with your personality and all of your project goals.

We purchase and procure all furnishings and decor that’s needed for your project. In addition to minimizing your stress, this enables us to track, store, and work through any issues or delays that might arise during this process.

We have many trusted vendors who update us regularly, which empowers us to manage timeline expectations. Our reliable warehouse will inspect and hold your items until we’re ready for the most exciting day — installation day!
